Summary: A group of thirteen of us from New Mexico spent a fantastic week in June at this magical location. Pierre, Martine and Pascale organized an amazing itinerary for us of wine tasting, sightseeing and dining. They were meticulous in assuring that every minute of everyday went smoothly and enjoyably. The accommodations are beautiful and comfortable in every detail, while retaining all of the historical charm of the property. We were even lucky enough to be there when the wild poppies were in full bloom in every field and along the roadsides! When you stay with them you will feel so at home and comfortable that you will think you are with your own family! If you have a group that would like to have a very special experience, either independently or organized, look no further--- this is the best of the best.

Summary: We are a family of 12 spanning 3 generations. We rented La Bastide for two weeks in July 2012. The house is an old Perigird style home beautifully restored set in a tranquil rural area. With its 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms everyone enjoyed their own on suite bathrooms with the children sharing one .La Bastide is a charming house with an extremely well equiped kitchen and laundry room. Both essential for a large family. Most evenings we prepared delicious meals at home with local produce and enjoyed eating outside at the lovely table by the pool. The pool was spotless and cleaned every morning. We were greeted by Pierre on arrivel. The house was extremely clean and well appointed. Pierre was very gracious welcoming us to his beautiful home. We had some problems with our return travel arrangements and Pierre assisted us in every way possible. He also recommended restaurants for us in particular Loucantou and La Roseraie in Montignac both of which were excellent. The house is about 4 miles from the town of Montignac which has a large supermarket and many restaurants and shops. The caves of Lascaux 2 are nearby and worth a visit. Some of our family also enjoyed canoeing on the river there. The beautiful medieval town of Sarlat is just 12 miles from the house and has many restaurants, shops and interesting places to visit. There are many chateaux, gardens, castles and towns within driving distance we did need the 2 weeks to see this beautiful area. We highly recommend Le Cheyssignaguet to stay while visiting the Dordogne area.

Summary: My family together with another family (nine people total) rented this house for a week in the middle of July 2011. It is a very nicely restored Perigord style house that retains much of the original charm yet has 21st century comforts. The house is very spacious, comfortable, spotless and well equipped and maintained. Even with nine of us, everyone had ample space. The setting is on a large estate in the countryside. It's a few minute drive to a small bakery with good bread, and a few minutes farther to either of two small towns (La Chapelle Aubareil or Saint-Geniès) with more shopping and dining options. This was a good base for us to explore the Dordogne region, and we would highly recommend it to others who want to stay in this area. Highlights were visiting charming villages and towns (in particular, on the night of their outdoor markets in the summer evenings when you can buy an entire meal from a variety of local producers), La Roseraie restaurant in Montignac, canoeing, horseback riding and seeing a couple castles. Pierre was very knowledgeable and helpful. It's clear to us that he takes pride in having a very well-kept property and providing helpful information to his guests.

Summary: We spent two weeks in June at Le Bastide and were thoroughly charmed by the property, the area and Pierre and Martine who were most helpful in every way. The house is even better than the pictures and the heated pool was cleaned everyday. There are lovely walks to take on and around the property. We even picked wild strawberries for dessert. We were a party of three couples and two singles, so everyone had their own bedroom as well as bath and wc with a bedroom to spare. We grilled outside quite often and ate at the shaded table under the pergola. Everything was sparkling clean and well maintained with cleaning sevice included midweek. The property is located near the famous caves and well situated for shopping in Montignac where there are restaurants as well as food shopping. In Montignac we rented kayaks and paddled to the next village where we were picked up. We will definitely return and highly recommend Cheyssignaguet. There or four seperate houses, each with a swimming pool. The houses are situated around the expansive grounds so that they are private and have their own yard. We never saw the guests in the other accomodations. Pierre made dinner reservations for us at La Rosarie and it was wonderful. Don't miss it.

Summary: We rented this property for a week for a group of four couples last May. The area, in the Dordogne countryside is stunning. You really are "in the countryside" when you stay here, it's peaceful and pastoral. But also, you are very close to many charming towns and sights like Montignac, Sarlat, St. Genies, St. Amand de Coly, the Lascaux caves and a plethora of castles, gardens and boating opportunities. The house is a beautifully restored manor, well-decorated, immaculate and utterly charming. Plus, Pierre and Martine were helpful in every way. The kitchen was well equipped and we prepared many good dinners with products from the local markets, as well as sampling wonderful restaurants nearby. Within walking distance was a bakery where we could buy fresh-baked bread daily (the great French bread...not like what we have at home!) We even had an excellent cooking class with Jim and Lucy Fisher at the nearby Cook in France cooking school. We have only good things to say about our stay in the Dordogne and this property. A week was not enough to enjoy the whole area. We will definitely return.

Summary: We had an excellent stay in La Bastide in August / September 2009. The listing on VRBO was accurate and the location reasonably easy to find (although would have been easier if we had arrived in daylight!). The photos don't really do the property justice as it is extremely well appointed and finished to a high standard with all the kitchen and laundry equipment that you could need. It really made our large family get together easy. Pierre and Martine we on hand to help with any problems we had, and for local information. Martines home made Fig jam was thoroughly enjoyed. All of us would love to return. La Perigord is a beautiful spot - the town of Montignac is easy to reach by car and has supermarkets, restaurants, a lovely market and things to do like canoeing. The food market down by the river on Monday night is a good place for an informal meal and drink. Sarlat is an easy drive with all its attractions and particularly the large market. The children enjoyed the caves at Lascaux 2 which are extremely nearby and we had a great family day out canoeing. Thanks for a lovely holiday!
